D-locknut is a two piece design: a slotted nut and a locking nut. The assembled D-locknut
turns freely on the bolt until it contacts the item being fastened, additional turns of the
slotted nut clamp the items to the desired torque.
By applying torque to the locking nut, the asymmetric thread’s radial force compresses
sections of the slotted neck, locking the nut on the bolt. This deflection produces a strong
360 deg. mechanical metal to metal connection, and does not damage or mar the threads
of the bolt.
The bolt threads can be lubricated with the lubricants of your choice.
To remove D-locknut, first, loosen the locking nut 1/4-3/4 turns and then loosen the slotted
nut. Now, D-locknut turns freely for removal.

bolts or shaft regardless of clamping loads.
